Choose the hijabs, or shaylas, for the bride, her mother and sisters in one fabric: a bridal hijab from the SHQ pieces in the bridal collection (شيل المعاريس), such as SHQ-05 and SHQ-04 in ivory Duja Al-Lail (دجى الليل), and Duja Al-Lail occasion pieces for her mother and sisters, such as TC1-02, TC1-03, LL-03 and MN1-02. Put the bride in the lightest shade and those around her in deeper or contrasting shades, and contact the Shailah team on WhatsApp +971 56 900 1425 before choosing.

The bridal hijab: the SHQ pieces

Shailah's bridal pieces carry the code SHQ and sit together in the bridal collection (شيل المعاريس). SHQ-05 "Naam Al Oud" is a bridal hijab designed by the artist Shouq, in ivory (off-white) Duja Al-Lail with work on one side, tulle and crystals, at 215 x 70 cm.

Other pieces in the bridal collection

  • SHQ-04 "Hab Al Saad": ivory Duja Al-Lail, work on one side built around the idea of a bridal crown.
  • SHQ-08 "Al Jawhara": nude Duja Al-Lail, munatharat work with foulak and stones.
  • SHQ-12 "Al Gheed": nude-brown Duja Al-Lail, munatharat work with foulak.
  • SHQ-02 "Sama": sky-blue Duja Al-Lail.
  • SHQ-01 "Al Damani": made for brides.

For the size of these pieces, ask the team with the code before ordering.

Hijabs for the mother and sisters: the occasion pieces

For the mother and sisters, choose from the occasion pieces in Duja Al-Lail, so the group matches in fabric and fall:

  • TC1-02, the wide off-white Wasayef occasion hijab: work on two edges, stays in place on the head.
  • TC1-03, the wide Wasayef in burgundy: work on two edges.
  • LL-03, the black Layal hijab with white work: white work with beads and stones on four edges.
  • MN1-02, the black Munira hijab with black work: black work with stones and beads on four edges.

The pages for these pieces list two sizes, small 214 x 69 cm and large 214 x 106 cm, and the difference is the width. Availability of each size varies by piece and over time, so check the piece's page before ordering.

Coordinating the group

WhoSuggested shadeExample
The brideThe lightest shade in the groupSHQ-05 or SHQ-04 in ivory
The motherA shade deeper than the dress, or a dark neutralTC1-03 in burgundy or MN1-02 in black
The sistersA contrasting shade, or one between the twoTC1-02 in off-white or LL-03 in black with white work

Three suggested rules, not binding ones: one fabric across the whole group, the bride in the lightest shade so she stands out in photographs, and the mother and sisters in deeper or contrasting shades so that none of their pieces matches the bride's. If there are more than two sisters, choose one design in two colours for them rather than four different designs, such as Wasayef TC1-02 in off-white and TC1-03 in burgundy.

Caring for bridal and occasion pieces

The occasion pieces suggested here, TC1-02, TC1-03, LL-03 and MN1-02, carry 100% handwork, and hand washing keeps them longer. The same goes for the bridal pieces SHQ-04, SHQ-05, SHQ-08 and SHQ-12, whose work is done by hand. Shailah recommends washing these pieces gently by hand in cold water, drying them in the shade, and not ironing over the work. Pieces whose title or description names no hand work can be machine washed in cold water on a gentle cycle. For more, read the care guide for embroidered and crochet hijabs.

Contacting the team before choosing

Contact the Shailah team on WhatsApp +971 56 900 1425 before choosing, or by email at info@shailah.ae as listed on the contact page. Send the dress colour or a photo of it, the date of the occasion, the number of pieces needed, the width each person wraps, and the codes of the pieces you like. The team helps with recommending a piece and explaining the differences between types.

Timing

Within the UAE, order at least two weeks before the occasion, and from outside the UAE add the international delivery time, usually 5-14 working days. Under the shipping policy, processing takes 1-3 working days, Sunday to Thursday, then delivery within the UAE takes 1-3 working days after dispatch, with one or two extra working days for remote areas, and processing may take one or two extra days in peak periods. These are estimates, not a promised arrival date, so leave enough margin before the occasion. On delivery, compare the colour of the pieces with the dress in daylight before removing the tags, because the return policy accepts an unworn piece with its original tags and packaging within 14 days of receipt after prior approval, there is no direct exchange, and custom orders are not returnable.

Common questions

Is the bridal hijab made of Duja Al-Lail?

The pages for SHQ-05 and SHQ-04 in ivory, SHQ-08 in nude, SHQ-12 in nude brown and SHQ-02 in sky blue name Duja Al-Lail as the fabric, while the page for SHQ-01 "Al Damani" does not name a fabric. The occasion pieces suggested for the mother and sisters are Duja Al-Lail too, so the group matches in fabric.

Does a bridal hijab suit the bride's mother?

The better fit for the mother is a Duja Al-Lail occasion piece, such as TC1-03 in burgundy or MN1-02 in black with black work on four edges, which coordinates with the bride's hijab without matching it. The pages for these pieces list two sizes, small 214 x 69 cm and large 214 x 106 cm, and availability of each size varies.

How do I coordinate the mother's and sisters' hijabs with the bride's?

Choose one fabric across the group, put the bride in the lightest shade, and the mother and sisters in deeper or contrasting shades. For example: the bride in SHQ-05 in ivory, the mother in TC1-03 in burgundy, and the sisters in TC1-02 in off-white or LL-03 in black with white work. This is a suggestion; the decision depends on the dress colour.

How do I wash a bridal hijab and occasion pieces?

Pieces whose own title or description names hand work are washed gently by hand in cold water and dried in the shade, without ironing over the work or beads. These include the bridal pieces SHQ-04, SHQ-05, SHQ-08 and SHQ-12 and the occasion pieces TC1-02, TC1-03, LL-03 and MN1-02 with their 100% handwork. Pieces whose title or description names no hand work can be machine washed in cold water on a gentle cycle.

What size is a bridal hijab?

SHQ-05 "Naam Al Oud" measures 215 x 70 cm; for the other SHQ pieces, contact the team with the code before ordering to confirm the size. The occasion pieces for the mother and sisters list two sizes, small 214 x 69 cm and large 214 x 106 cm, and the only difference between them is the width.
