For Eid visits, Shailah pieces give three practical looks: a light hijab with work on two sides over a dark dress, a black hijab with black work on four edges with a black abaya, or a burgundy hijab over a light colour. Choose the type of work for your outfit and the visit, then the size, and order at least two weeks before Eid.

Three looks for Eid visits

These are styling suggestions, not rules; your taste and the way you wrap decide.

  1. A dark dress with a light hijab worked on two sides. TC1-02 Wasayef in off-white Duja Al-Lail (دجى الليل) over a dark colour makes the light hijab the centre of the look. Check the piece's photos before wrapping, and arrange the wrap so the work stays visible.
  2. A black abaya with a black hijab and black work. MN1-02 Munira, black with black work on four edges, gives a single-colour look, with the work along every edge. It suits long visits where you prefer a quiet look.
  3. A white or light dress with a burgundy hijab. TC1-03 Wasayef in burgundy with work on two sides, over a light colour, makes the burgundy itself the main detail.

In all three, do not tuck the worked edge under the front fold, and spread the hanging end on the side you want to show.

How to choose the work on an Eid hijab

Read the piece's title and description, which name the type of work. Here are the types, with examples available at the time of writing:

Occasion hijabs (shaylas) in Duja Al-Lail, or a decorated home hijab?

The Wasayef, Layal, Munira and Al-Zein pieces are occasion hijabs in Duja Al-Lail with clear work, so they suit formal visits and larger gatherings better. Munatharat and Jourie pieces are decorated home hijabs that suit daytime family visits or a lighter wrap. To compare other occasion pieces, see the occasion and gift hijab guide.

Fabric and size

The TC1-02, TC1-03, LL-03 and MN1-02 pages offer a size option with two sizes: small at 214 x 69 cm and large at 214 x 106 cm, the difference being the width only. Choose the large size if you want more fabric to drape over the shoulder or for a doubled front fold, and the small size if you prefer a less bulky wrap. Availability varies by size: at the time of writing both sizes were available in LL-03 and MN1-02, and only the large size in TC1-02 and TC1-03. TE1-01 Al-Zein has a shorter width, as its name says, and comes only in 214 x 69 cm.

Before and after Eid

  • When to order inside the UAE: order at least two weeks before Eid, because processing takes 1-3 working days plus 1-2 days in peak periods, then UAE delivery takes 1-3 working days after dispatch, and public holidays are not working days, as the shipping policy explains.
  • From outside the UAE: add the international delivery time of 5 to 14 working days.
  • Trying it: compare the piece with your full Eid outfit in daylight before wearing it, because the return policy accepts only an unworn piece with its original tags and packaging, within 14 days of receipt and with prior approval.
  • After the visit: pieces whose title or description names hand work, such as TC1-02, TC1-03, TE1-01, LL-03, MN1-02 and DK5-39, are washed gently by hand in cold water, dried in the shade and never ironed over the work. All other pieces, such as the Jourie hijabs, can be machine washed in cold water on a gentle cycle; for beaded pieces such as DK1-144, follow the washing method on the piece's own page. Common questions

Which hijab suits Eid visits?

Choose by your outfit: over a dark dress, a light hijab such as TC1-02 Wasayef in off-white; with a black abaya, a black hijab with black work such as MN1-02; over a light colour, a burgundy hijab such as TC1-03. For lighter family visits, munatharat such as DK1-144 or a Jourie hijab suit well.

What is the difference between work on two sides and on four edges?

Work on four edges runs along every edge of the piece, as on LL-03 and MN1-02, so when wrapped it shows around the face and on the hanging end. Work on two sides sits on two sides only, as on TC1-02 and TE1-01, so look at the piece's photos from more than one angle before wrapping to see where it sits.

Which size should I choose for an Eid hijab?

The large 214 x 106 cm size gives more fabric to drape over the shoulder or for a doubled front fold, and the small 214 x 69 cm size gives a less bulky wrap. The Wasayef, Layal and Munira pieces offer both sizes, with availability varying, while Al-Zein TE1-01 comes in one size, 214 x 69 cm.

When should I order an Eid hijab?

Inside the UAE, at least two weeks before Eid, without waiting for the official announcement: processing takes 1-3 working days plus 1-2 in peak periods, then delivery takes 1-3 working days after dispatch, and public holidays are not working days. From outside the UAE, add 5 to 14 working days for international delivery.
