Mother's Day in the UAE falls on 21 March every year, and a hijab or shayla is a gift a mother actually wears. Choose an everyday home hijab that matches what she already wears: plain or detailed, in the width she wraps and a colour she likes. Then send it to her address in the UAE, the GCC or abroad, pay online, and order early according to the shipping policy.
Why a hijab suits a mother as a gift
With clothing, the usual mistake is the size. Most Shailah hijabs are 214 x 106 cm, and some are offered in a small 214 x 69 cm size; the only difference is the width. It is also a gift used every day, as the plain and Jourie pieces are suitable for daily wear. Because Shailah's fabric is durable, the gift stays in her wardrobe for years.
Three questions before you choose
- Plain or detailed? If she wears plain hijabs every day, give her a plain piece in a colour she likes; if she enjoys decoration, choose a piece with roses on the edges or an embroidered one.
- Which width does she wrap? Measure a piece she owns: if she wraps a lot of fabric around her head, choose the 106 cm width; if she prefers less fabric, the 69 cm width where it is offered.

Pieces whose own title or description names hand work, such as DK7-75 and MN1-02 in the table, are washed gently by hand in cold water and dried in the shade, without ironing over the work. Sending the gift to her address in the UAE
- Enter her address as the shipping address. Write her name, full address and phone number in the shipping address at checkout.
- Keep your details in the contact field. Your email and number there make sure the order confirmation and tracking messages reach you.
- Pay online. Choose Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, or instalments through Tabby or Tamara; the options shown depend on market and device. Cash on delivery requires someone at the address to pay the full amount in cash, and the order may be cancelled after two failed delivery attempts.
- Follow the parcel. After dispatch you receive tracking by email or SMS, so you can tell your mother when to expect it.
- Ask her to check the parcel. Damage on arrival is reported within 24 hours of delivery with photos, keeping the packaging.
Sending the gift to the GCC or another country
Shailah ships to the GCC and to other countries worldwide. The shipping policy states that international delivery time depends on the destination, usually 5-14 working days, and that international shipping fees are calculated at checkout based on the destination and the order weight. Any customs duties or import taxes charged by the destination country are paid by the customer. Cash on delivery is not available outside the UAE, so pay online. When to order
Orders are processed within 1-3 working days, Sunday to Thursday, and weekend and public-holiday orders are processed on the next working day. Delivery within the UAE then takes 1-3 working days after dispatch, and remote areas may need one or two extra working days. Shipping within the UAE is AED 30, and free for orders over AED 200 within the UAE.
In some years the days before 21 March fall in late Ramadan or the Eid holiday; in peak periods processing may take one or two extra days, and public holidays are not working days. So place a UAE order at least two weeks before 21 March, and for international delivery add the international delivery time on top.
If it does not suit her
The return policy accepts returns within 14 days of receipt for an unworn, unused and unwashed piece with its original tags, packaging and proof of purchase. Contact Shailah first and wait for approval, which comes within 1-2 working days; items sent without approval are not accepted. The customer pays the return shipping, there is no direct exchange, and sale items are not returnable. Because the order confirmation reaches you, handle the contact yourself, and ask your mother to check the colour and width before removing the tags and before washing.
